  2. Verse 1

Sarathi aruna haim prabhu tuma, shveta kamaladhari, Tuma chara bhujadhari. Ashva haim sata tumhare, koti kirana pasare, Tuma ho deva mahana.

Aruna is your charioteer, Lord; you hold the white lotus, you are four-armed. Seven are your horses, and you spread ten million rays: you are the great god.

Ushakala mem jaba tuma, udayachala ate, Saba taba darshana pate. Phailate ujiyara, jagata taba jaga sara, Kare saba taba gunagana.

At dawn, when you come over the eastern mountain, all have your darshana. You spread the light, the whole world wakes, and all sing your praise.

Sandhya mem bhuvaneshvara astachala jate, Godhana taba ghara ate. Godhuli bela mem, hara ghara hara angana mem, Ho tava mahima gana.

At dusk, Lord of the worlds, you go to the western mountain, and the cattle come home. In the hour of cow-dust, in every home and every courtyard, your glory is sung.

Deva-danuja nara-nari, rishi-munivara bhajate, Aditya hridaya japate. Stotra ye mangalakari, isaki hai rachana nyari, De nava jivanadana.

Gods and demons, men and women, rishis and the best of sages worship you and chant the Aditya Hridaya. That hymn brings blessing; its making is wondrous, and it gives new life.

Bhuchara jalachara khechara, sabake hom prana tumhim, Saba jivom ke prana tumhim. Veda-purana bakhane, dharma sabhi tumhem mane, Tuma hi sarvashaktimana.

Creatures of land, water and air: you are the life of them all, the life of every being. The Vedas and Puranas tell of you, every tradition honours you; you alone are almighty.

Pujana karatim dishaem, puje dasha dikpala, Tuma bhuvanom ke pratipala. Rituem tumhari dasi, tuma shashvata avinashi, Shubhakari anshumana.

The directions worship you, the ten guardians of the quarters worship you; you protect the worlds. The seasons serve you; you are eternal and imperishable, the radiant one who brings good.
