- Verse 1
Gale mem baijanti mala, bajavai murali madhura bala, Shravana mem kundala jhalakala, nanda ke ananda nandalala, Gagana sama anga kanti kali, radhika chamaka rahi ali, Latana mem tharhe banamali. Bhramara si alaka, kasturi tilaka, chandra si jhalaka, Lalita chhavi shyama pyari ki.
The vaijayanti garland at his throat, the boy plays the sweet flute; earrings glint at his ears, Nanda’s joy, Nanda’s darling. His body is dark as the sky, and Radha shines beside him; the forest-garlanded one stands among the vines. Curls like bees, a musk tilaka, a glow like the moon: the lovely form of Shyama’s beloved.
Kanakamaya mora mukuta bilasai, devata darasana ko tarasaim, Gagana som sumana rasi barasai. Baje murachanga, madhura miradanga, gvalini sanga, Atula rati gopa kumari ki.
The golden peacock crown gleams; the gods long to see him, and flowers rain from the sky. The mouth-harp sounds, the sweet mridanga, the cowherd girls with him: the matchless love of the cowherd maidens.
Jaham te prakata bhai ganga, kalusha kali harini shriganga, Smarana te hota moha bhanga. Basi siva sisa, jata ke bicha, harai agha kicha, Charana chhavi shribanavari ki.
From his feet came forth the Ganga, who takes away the stain of this age; remembering her, delusion breaks. She dwells in the matted hair on Shiva’s head and washes away the mire of sin: such is the beauty of Shri Banavari’s feet.
Chamakati ujjvala tata renu, baja rahi vrindavana benu, Chahum disi gopi gvala dhenu. Hansata mridu manda, chandani chanda, katata bhava phanda, Tera suna dina bhikhari ki.
The bright sand of the riverbank shines, the flute plays in Vrindavana; on every side the gopis, the cowherds and the cows. He smiles softly, moonlight and moon, and the snare of worldly life is cut: hear the cry of this poor beggar.
