The Pradosha vrat

Le vrat de Pradosha

The Pradosha vrat is a holy vrat dedicated to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati, kept on the Trayodashi of every fortnight. It is kept in the pradosha kala of the day — the time after sunset — and so it is called the Pradosha vrat. On this day devotees of Shiva fast and worship Lord Shiva, asking for happiness, peace, health and prosperity. The Pradosha vrat has great religious importance. It is believed that whoever keeps it with faith and devotion has all their wrongs destroyed, and good fortune grows in their life. There are several kinds of Pradosha vrat, such as Soma Pradosha, Mangala Pradosha and Shani Pradosha, named for the day of the week on which they fall. This vrat gives devotees a path to Lord Shiva’s boundless grace and to moksha.
